Scanning is fast and convenient, with an A4 colour document at 300 dpi taking approximately 8 seconds under Canon's specified conditions. The scanner uses a CIS (Contact Image Sensor) and supports 48-bit internal colour processing, allowing it to capture a broad range of colour information. It can scan documents up to approximately 216 × 297 mm, making it suitable for standard A4 paperwork, letters, photographs and other commonly used documents.

The CanoScan LiDE 400 is designed to keep your workspace simple and organized. It connects to a compatible computer through USB Type-C, with the USB connection providing both communication and power. Five dedicated EZ buttons provide quick access to common functions, including PDF scanning, copying and sending scanned files. Canon's Auto Scan Mode can also automatically detect the type of original and select appropriate scanning settings, helping simplify everyday scanning.

For thicker originals such as books and magazines, the scanner's Z-Lid can be raised to better accommodate documents that do not sit completely flat. When desk space is limited, the LiDE 400 can also be positioned vertically using its stand, making it a practical choice for home offices, students, photographers, designers, businesses and anyone who regularly needs to digitize physical documents.

IMPORTANT: THIS IS A SCANNER ONLY

The Canon CanoScan LiDE 400 is a dedicated flatbed scanner.

It does NOT print, copy or fax by itself.

The scanner digitizes physical documents and photographs into digital files on a connected computer. Its EZ “Copy” button refers to a scanning workflow that can work with a connected computer and printer; the LiDE 400 itself does not contain a printer or copier mechanism.

If you need a device that can print + scan + copy, this is not the appropriate model. Choose a Canon PIXMA multifunction printer instead.

IMPORTANT: COMPUTER CONNECTION REQUIRED

The CanoScan LiDE 400 is designed to operate with a compatible computer via USB. It does not have built-in Wi-Fi or Ethernet networking.

It is not a standalone wireless scanner.

The scanner uses the USB connection for both communication and power, helping eliminate the need for a separate AC power adapter.
