You can charge your USB‑C devices (smartphones, tablets, some laptops) using a single cable, as long as both the device and the charger support USB‑C.
If you pick the higher rated version (5 A / 100 W), you are better equipped for “fast charging” and even higher power devices.
You can sync data between devices (phone ↔ laptop, phone ↔ phone) using this cable.
The official Samsung branding gives some assurance of compatibility with Samsung devices and possibly better quality.
With the reversible connector and USB‑C on both ends, it simplifies things (no legacy USB‑A plug, no confusion about orientation).
Charger compatibility: The cable supports high wattage only if the wall charger or power adapter and the device support that wattage. The cable alone doesn’t increase your charger’s output.
Look at specs: Make sure you check if the version you have is the “5 A” one (for up to ~100 W) or a lower spec (3 A / ~60 W) depending on your device’s needs.
Data speed vs charging speed: Even if a cable supports high wattage charging, it might still be limited to USB 2.0 speeds (480 Mb/s) for data transfer. If you need very high data transfer (e.g., large files, external SSDs), you must check for USB 3.x/USB 3.2 rated cables.
Authenticity/quality: There are counterfeit cables in the market that claim “Samsung” but don’t fully meet the specs or safety standards. One user pointed out:
“Counterfeit cables … the cable I received … not marked ‘5A’ on the connectors.” Reddit
Length and power loss: Longer cables may have slightly more resistance and voltage drop if they are poorly made. While 1.8 m is supported in the Samsung version, quality still matters.
Device support: Even if your cable supports 100 W, your device may only draw e.g. 45 W (like many phones), so you might not benefit from “100 W” in your phone scenario — but it gives you headroom for future devices.
If you have a recent Samsung Galaxy smartphone that supports “Super-Fast Charging 2.0” (say up to ~45 W), you could pair:
A compatible Samsung wall charger (that supports 45 W via PPS/PD)
The Samsung USB‑C to USB‑C cable rated for 5 A / 100 W
Then you’d get optimal charging performance.
If you just use a lower rated cable (3 A) with the same charger and phone, you may still charge but not at the maximum speed.
