Sherwood Kwame Nkrumah and the Dawn of the Cold War – Marika Sherwood

This scholarly work examines the early political activism of Nkrumah through the West African National Secretariat (WANS) from 1945–1948. Drawing on archival research and MI5 files, Sherwood illustrates how Western powers used anti-communist rhetoric to sabotage African independence efforts, bringing Cold War geopolitics to the continent.
