Fitting instructions.
1. Since the tailgate can not be supported without the two gas springs, it is strongly recommended to ask an assistant to hold it during the replacement of the old units.
2. Using a small flathead screwdriver, release the retaining spring. It is not necessary to remove the spring. Simply loosen it and pull the strut away from the holding bolt.
3. Repeat for the other end.
4. Install the new strut by simply pressing the upper and lower retaining balls into position. No need to release the spring, simply press into position.
5. Your helper may need to lift or lower the tailgate to locate the new strut properly.
6. PLEASE NOTE that the struts are always mounted with the piston pointing down.
