Reconditioning a Lead Acid Battery

Desulion (also know as Reconditioning or electrolyte stratification) offers a way for dead batteries to be brought back to life and for tired batteries to be rejuvenated. Desulion will not bring batteries with a shorted cell, or worn out plates back to their former glory, but it is a valuable tool for anyone depending on battery storage for power. When lead sulphate crystals build up on the lead plates, it is not an easy task to remove them and thereby recondition the battery. As more and more crystallisation occurs, the voltage required to shift the crystals (dioing them back into the electrolyte) also increases. But, if you were to put a constant high voltage through the battery it would overheat and could potentially explode. Pulse conditioning is therefore used to ensure that only the sulphate crystals are affected and the battery does not overheat.

INSTRUCTION

1.) The desulor should be installed as close as poible to the battery terminals. (within 14 inches, or 35 cm)

2.) You may trim the wire leads with wire cutters/strpers to work best for your application. (shorter is better)

3.) Install the Red wire to the positive (+) terminal on your 12 volt battery.

4.) Install the black wire to the negative(-) terminal on your 12 volt battery.

5.) Verify that the LED is on, you might also be able to hear a “buzzing” noise.

6.) The best results for recovery will occur within the first 4 weeks. If left connected longer, desuling will continue but at a slower pace.
